EXCEL PDURATION FUNCTION

The Pduration function in Excel determines the number of periods necessary for an investment to achieve a certain future value.

Syntax :

=PDURATION( ratepvfv )

Parameters :

  • Rate – The interest rate for a given period.
  • Pv – The investment’s present value.
  • Fv – The investment’s needed future worth.

Example :

the Excel Pduration function was used to compute the number of years necessary for a $10,000 investment producing 4% interest per year to reach a value of $15,000. The Excel Pduration function returns the value 10.33803507 with these arguments. In other words, it would take 10.34 years for a $10,000 investment yielding 4% interest per year to achieve a value of $15,000.

  • #NUM! – This error occurs if any of the supplied parameters is zero or negative.
  • #VALUE! – This error occurs if any of the supplied parameters is not a number.
