EXCEL MUNIT FUNCTION

The MUNIT function in Excel returns the unit matrix for a specified dimension.

Syntax :

=MUNIT( dimension )

Parameters :

The dimension input is an integer value that specifies the unit matrix’s dimension.

Step By Step Guide of MUNIT Function

Example :

The Munit function is shown in the spreadsheet below, and it was used to enter the 4×4 unit matrix into cells A1-D4: The formula for this is printed in the formula bar: =MUNIT(4)

  • #VALUE! – Occurs if the dimension parameter is less than or equal to zero, or is not recognised as a numeric value.
  • #N/A – Occurs in cells that are not within the range of the resultant matrix.
For example, if we highlighted cells A1-E4 before entering the Munit function in the above example, the ‘extra’ cells, E1-E4, are not included in the resultant matrix. As a result, these cells will show the #N/A error.
