EXCEL MDETERM FUNCTION

The Mdeterm function in Excel computes the determinant of a square matrix.

Syntax :

=MDETERM( array )

Parameters :

The array parameter is a collection of numeric values representing a square matrix .

Example :

A basic 2×2 matrix is shown on the right. This matrix’s determinant may be determined using the Excel Mdeterm function as follows: =MDETERM ( A1:B2 ) This yields a result of -9.

  • #VALUE! – Occurs if the provided matrix contains blanks or non-numeric values, or if the supplied matrix has an uneven number of rows and columns.
