EXCEL FTEST FUNCTION

The F-Test for two arrays is returned by the Excel FTEST function. In other words, the function returns the two-tailed probability that the variances in the two provided arrays do not differ considerably.

Syntax :

=FTEST( array1array2 )

Parameters :

  • The following parameters are :
  • where array1 and array2 are two data value arrays representing samples from two separate populations. The Ftest function ignores arrays that include text, logical values, or empty cells.

Example :

 The Excel Ftest function is shown in Cell C2 of the spreadsheet to illustrate the chance that there is no significant difference between the variances of the two data sets. The Ftest function result in cell C2 is 0.954035559.

  • #DIV/0! – Occurs if one of the following conditions is met: the number of values in either array1 or array2 is fewer than two; or The variance of arrays 1 and 2 is equal to zero.
