EXCEL EXPON.DIST FUNCTION

The Excel EXPON.DIST function specifies the amount of the probability density function or even the sum of squared for the exponent for a particular value of x and parameters.

Syntax :

=EXPON.DIST( xlambdacumulative )

Parameters :

  • The function parameters are as follows:

x –

  • The value at which the exponential distribution should be assessed (must be 0).

lambda –

  • The dispersion parameter (must be greater than 0).

cumulative –

  • A logical argument indicating the kind of distribution to be computed. This can be TRUE or FALSE, indicating:

TRUE –

  • Determine the functional form.

FALSE –

  • Determine the probabilistic model.

Step By Step Guide of EXPON.DIST Function

Example :

The probabilities for the probability function with requirements set to 0.5, 1, and 2 are shown in the chart on the right.
If you wish to compute the value of the function with = 1 at x=0.5, use the Excel Expon.Dist function as follows:

=EXPONDIST( 0.5, 1, FALSE )

which gives the result 0.60653066.

#NUM! – Occurs when either the specified x value is negative or the supplied lambda is 0.
#VALUE!- This error occurs if any of the given parameters is not a number.
