Brief About Indices(History)

China Securities Index Company Limited (“CSI”) was established in August 2005. As a joint venture between the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, CSI has secured its position as a leading professional index provider in China. The CSI 300 is a capitalization-weighted stock market index designed to duplicate the performance of the highest 300 stocks traded on the Shanghai stock exchange and also the Shenzhen stock market.

  • The base day of CSI 300 Index is December 31, 2004, with the base point of 1,000 points and the base period of the adjusted market capitalization of all 300 constituents on the base day.
  • Index in the reporting period = (adjusted market capitalization of the constituents in the reporting period/base period) × 1000
  • Adjusted market capitalization =∑ (stock price × adjusted issued shares)
  • The base period is also called the divisor.

Timing

The Shanghai Stock Exchange is open Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm China Standard Time (GMT+08:00).
