The COVARIANCE.P function in Excel computes the population covariance of two sets of data. Because the function is new in Excel 2010, it is not available in previous versions of Excel. The Covariance.P function, on the other hand, is merely an improved version of the Covar function, which was accessible in older versions of Excel.
Syntax :
=COVARIANCE.P(array1, array2)
Parameters :
Example :
The spreadsheet on the right has two sets of values in columns A and B. The population covariance of the values in the spreadsheet’s columns A and B may be determined using the Excel Covariance.P function, as shown below: =COVARIANCE.P ( A2:A9, B2:B9 ) This yields 16.633125, indicating a positive correlation between the two sets of data.
