Powergrid InvIT was formed with the goal of owning, constructing, operating, maintaining, and investing in electricity transmission assets in India. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, its sponsor and project manager, is a Maharatna CPSE. Power Grid was India’s biggest energy transmission business in terms of transmission line length measured in circuit kilometres as of November 1, 2020. (ckm). The sponsor had more than 85 percent of India’s total inter-regional power transmission capacity as of 31 August 2020.
Powergrid InvIT recommends to acquire five of the sponsor TBCB (tariff-based competitive bidding) projects initially, with a total network of 11 power transmission lines totaling approximately 3,698.59 ckm and three substations totaling 6,630 MVA of overall average transformation capacity as of 31 December 2020, across five Indian states.
